FAQ & ANSWERS

How do I book a session?

Simple, just use our Contact Page for phone and email info.  Please include all the details and we will be in touch soon.

When is my payment due?

All session fees are non-refundable and due in full upon booking.  All prints, custom artwork or digital file collection fees are due upon ordering.

When does my session start?

Sessions start at the time that we discuss before hand.  Running late?  Please contact us immediately.  I realize things happen but ultimately being late will mean less time during the photo session which may result in fewer images provided.

What if I have to cancel or its raining the day of my session?

In the event you need to reschedule we will move your session fee to hold a future available date.  Please note, your session fee is non-refundable.

What should I wear?

This will be discussed more in the pre-session consultation.  Everything goes out the window when we are talking about a fashion shoot but for portraits consider the following guidelines.  Keep it simple with solid colored clothing, muted tones work best.  Choose similar tones for your top and bottom (both dark or both light).  For groups try to keep it to 3-4 colors all with a similar theme or color pallet.  You can find variety in choosing different shades or patterns.   Example color palettes might be:  brown, navy, cream and mustard or grey, red, teal and pale green.

How many outfit changes are normal?

Our pricing is based on hours, not outfit changes.  Even though we may offer unlimited outfit changes in some sessions please keep in mind that this cuts into actual time spent shooting.  Naturally this will result in fewer images.  Two unique outfits per hour seems reasonable.

Do you charge extra to touch up photos, remove blemishes, etc?

No, as a custom photographer each photo is hand-retouched individually to ensure our work is presented in the best possible manner and maintains our artistic standard.  Typically, this includes color, contrast and lighting adjustments as well as basic skin retouching such as evening skin tones, softening wrinkles and removing blemishes.

Will you remove my braces, make me thinner, and put me on the moon?

No, think about it.  Who were you when you were 12?  Were you the girl with braces?  Ten years from now you are going to want to remember exactly who you were at 12.  As a rule of thumb, I do not remove anything when touching up a photo that wouldn’t naturally clear up and go away.  If you insist on this type of editing additional premium editing charges will apply.  Cost is based on the request and level of skill and time required to make such adjustments.

When will my photos be ready?

Your Photos will be available for viewing/ordering approximately two to three weeks after the date of your photo session.  The viewing/ordering session will take place at a agreed upon location and time.  Please make sure all decision makers are present at this session as we will be taking all print orders at this time and submitting them to our professional print lab.  Your print order must be paid in full at this time and will be available for pickup approximately two to three weeks after the order date.

How long do you keep my photos?

Any images not ordered during the viewing/ ordering session will be discarded after 30 days.  The images you did order will be kept on file for 1 year for future print request.  Warning:  Despite our best efforts, after the initial viewing/ ordering sesion we do not guarantee the safety and holding of your image files.

Can I see ALL of the photos that you took at my session?

Truthfully, showing too many images to anyone is overwhelming.  We take our time and comb through all of your images often several times before picking the best ones that live up to the artistic standards we set for ourselves.  Each one is then edited individually into works of art you will be proud to display on your wall.  Any image discarded in this process is either too repetitious or just not as strong emotionally, in composition, lighting, exposure, etc.

Do I have to buy prints from you?

Yes, your prints represent me as a  photographer and therefore it’s very important to ensure only the finest quality.  We send all orders to a professional print lab and then carefully review the order before passing it along to you.  Relinquishing this job to the public is relinquishing any form of quality control where we ensure each order meets our high standard of quality and care.  The local Mejiers photo lab might be sufficient for snapshots but this is art for goodness sake!

Do you travel to different states for sessions?

I would be happy to discuss such arrangements with you.
